Things to do

Things to do in Salcombe: From castles to coves, and quaint villages, country pubs and seaside towns, this area of Cornwall has it all. It is the British seaside and countryside at its best.

Tintagel village is just minutes’ walk from our park and here you will find local amenities, pubs and shops. Wander just a minute or two further heading coastwards, and the magical Tintagel Castle looms from the clifftop and really is a must-do when staying with us at the Headland. Nestled below is Merlin’s Cave, another must-see for any fan of King Arthur and the legends that surround him.

Heading North

Heading North, the road takes you to pretty Boscastle a fine harbour town through which the River Valency flows through giving way to picturesque views, independent shops and cafes, and more enticing sea views. Cliff top walks take you to Pentargon, Cornwall’s highest waterfall and sea trips can be taken from Boscastle harbour when the tide allows.

Taking the South road

South of the Headland will see you heading toward picturesque Port Isaac and a little further towards Newquay and the famous Fistral Beach. If watersports are your thing then some of the best surf schools (and surfers if your prefer watching) take to the wide open sands.

In between the Headland and Newquay is the Camel Estuary with quaint Padstow nesting on the south bank famous for its fish restaurants including that of Rick Stein and Rock the village on the opposite bank where a ferry links the two.

Two feet or two wheels

This part of Cornwall is also wonderfully able to be explored on foot, or by cycle, indeed the South West Coast Path passes just by the park door and leads to some wonderful locations along its 630 miles length, from Minehead in the north to Poole Harbour in Dorset.

The Camel Trail, from Padstow to Bodmin and passing through Wadebridge, is relatively flat and almost all traffic-free making it a great route for cyclists and walkers alike.

With many other paths looping across the countryside offering amazing views there is much that can be enjoyed and explored on foot or on two wheels.

Whether you are with us for just a night or two, or are hoping for an extended break, there is much to see, do, explore and enjoy.
